With Canada Day just around the corner as they say. The fact that the PPCLI will be mounting the Guard at Windsor Castle and Buckingham Palace, is great BUT the top story of Mounting of the Guard is this:

When Captain Megan Couto  2  PPCLI calls out her oh-so-familiar drill commands on Monday morning, she will making  history.

As the first ever female Guard Commander for the Royal Guard. History in the making BRAVO ZULU  Captain Couto

This is so fitting  just a week or so before Canada’s Birthday Bash, first our SNIPER with his shot record and now A Canadian Female Captain taking the Royal Guard through their paces. The RSM of the Coldstream Guards who observed her drilling the PPCLI  through the drill routines, said he was amazed at the first time he had ever seen a Female give commands on his Parade Square. This must have made his day?

I am sorry to relay this  sad news, Gary Stegman our last graduating Apprentice has moved onto the Advance Party; This message from a brother Apprentice Bill Raspberry  a longtime friend and brother apprentice  of Gary.

It is never easy to accept the death of a close friend. Gary (aka Da Gow) was my loyal friend for almost half a century.
Gary struggled with health issues for many years but he is at peace now.  I will miss him.
Gary Patrick Stegman passed away in Campbell River BC, at 8:25 pm Saturday 24 June 2017.
Sincerely,
Bill

Your prayers and thoughts will join mine for Gary and his loved ones, brother apprentices and brothers of the Corps. RIP my comrade.
